Flame applied waterproofing
A highly effective and durable waterproofing technique
While liquid waterproofing is very popular in South Africa, flame applied waterproofing is a highly effective and durable technique used to protect surfaces against water and damp. This system can be used for retaining walls, parapet walls, basement walls, floors, fish ponds, water features and, most commonly, concrete roofs.
The use of bitumen for flame applied waterproofing
The key ingredient, bitumen, which is a sticky and viscous substance, is torched on or heat-fused to surfaces to provide effective waterproofing. This creates a strong watertight seal.
Bitumen products have become very popular for waterproofing the roofs of residential and commercial buildings as the application is not very rigid and prevents any water from damaging roofs. Not only does the product have a long lifespan but it is not harmful to human health and creates little noise pollution during the application.
Our flame applied waterproofing application
GAST uses 4mm modified Bitumen rolls for the torched-on application. The bitumen product is mixed with a filler to give it advanced tear resistance and elastic benefits. We ensure that our Flame applied waterproofing is totally waterproof, durable, flexible, versatile and easy to install.
