Waterproofing Engineering

Every new building or construction needs waterproofing as concrete itself is permeable on its own. The conventional system of waterproofing engineering involves ‘membranes’. This is the application of one or more layers of membrane (available in various materials: e.g., bitumen, silicate, PVC, HDPE, etc.) that act as a barrier between the water and the building structure, thus preventing the passage of water. However, the membrane system relies on testing application, presenting difficulties. Any problems with application or adherence of the membrane to the substrate can lead to leakage.

During the past twenty years, the waterproofing engineering industry has had technological advances in waterproofing materials, including integral waterproofing systems as well as more advanced membrane materials.

Gast’s world-class waterproofing systems and designs are your source for peace of mind when it comes to waterproofing engineering. Gast was one of the first manufacturers and installers of waterproofingsystems in Africa 44 years ago, and has both the experience and expertise to give you surety and superior quality in all waterproofing aspects. New membrane materials seek to overcome shortcomings of some older methods such as PVC and HDPE. Generally, new technology in waterproof membranes relies on polymer based materials that are extremely adhesive in order to create a seamless barrier around the outside of a structure.

Our waterproofing engineering experience includes Retainer walls, Shopping malls, Schools, Office blocks, Hotels and Parking decks, and our expertise in all waterproofing systems sets the standard for quality in the construction industry. Let us assist you in a cost effective solution for your waterproofing problems.
